After you finish developing your application, and before it displays the U3 smart logo or appears on U3 Software Central, we require that it pass U3 smart application certification. The certification confirms that your application is configured to, and operates in compliance with, U3 smart specifications. Note that the self test tool has been updated in April 2007 to work under Microsoft Vista. Be sure to view the readme first!

Here’s how:

1. Download the self-test.

2. Go through the self-test.
   The Self-Test Tool is easy to use. The integrated help provides documentation for each step of the testing process.
   
   You must successfully complete the required test runs for each of the operating systems you support.
   
   During the self-testing process, you can access technical support and advice from U3, via the U3 Knowledge Base.
   
   
3. Submit to U3 for certification compliance.
   After you successfully self-test your application, send an email to
   submission@u3.com.
   
   You must successfully complete the required test runs listed on the Host Machines page of the tool's help system. You then include the U3 Certification Self-Test report with your submission. We will then submit your application to our third-party testing house for the certification compliance.
   
   If the testing house finds issues that you need to fix, we'll pass that feedback on to you.
   
   Please note: We cover only the first two submissions to the testing house free-of-charge. We will charge for all additional submissions.
   
   
4. Go to market! Get the Go-to-Market Toolkit, and submit your application to U3 Software Central.
   We will contact you with the results of certification within 3 business days. When you pass, it's time to go to market!
